The
Community of the Lamb was
born from this Word : "Through
his flesh... In his person, Christ has
put hatred to death" (1)
This Word takes on flesh in the
proposal : "Wounded,
you will never stop loving",
a counsel which we want to live in the
humble reality of everyday life.
This
is the crucible which the Holy Spirit
purifies us, converts us and fashions
us so that we may become pilgrims, "messengers",
the praying poor and mendicants, messengers
of the Gospel of Peace, of that love which
is stronger than hatred and even death
itself.
I
- This experience and this contemplation
of the Mystery of the Lamb finds its origin
in the Eucharist
which is the heart of our life,
in the Liturgy
of the Hours and in liturgical
feasts devoutly celebrated at the heart
of the Church, whose solemnity is prolonged
in Eucharistic
adoration.
The
Little Sisters allow the Lord to recreate
them by his Word. With the Blessed Virgin
Mary, they keep the Word
of the Lord in their hearts at
all times – “at home as well as on the
road”. This word animates their lives.
It is their soul.
They dedicate much time to personal
prayer and study.
They regularly withdraw into the “desert”
in order to listen, along with the Blessed
Virgin Mary, to the Lord speaking in their
hearts.
I -The Little Sisters are uniquely united
to the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
By the grace of baptism, prayer, and the
self-offering of their consecrated life,
they, along with the Blessed Virgin Mary,
are Missionaries
of the Holy Face.
Following
Jesus poor and crucified and in the footsteps
of Saint Dominic and Saint Francis, incessantly
praying the Name of Jesus, and seeking
out after the lost sheep who have wandered
furthest away, they go from door to door
begging their daily bread.
Witnesses of God’s mendicant love.
Witnesses of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus
Christ.
At
home or on the road, night and day, according
to the measure of grace which each has
received, they share the lot of those
who around the world are treated like
the newborn Babe of Bethlehem and the
crucified Christ of Golgotha... “a
man of suffering, accustomed to infirmity,
one of those from whom men hide their
faces” (2),
the thousand and one faces, neighbors,
brothers, sisters and friends who are
familiar to us along our way.
The Little Sisters announce the Gospel
to the poor, so that all, the rich and
the poor alike, may be evangelized. Such
is the way of the kenosis, that is, the
self-emptying, which Jesus has shown us
for the proclamation of the Gospel to
all men of good will.
Faithful
to their own history, the Little Sisters
show particular preference for youth and
most especially for university students
in their proclamation of the Gospel (for
it was with university students that the
first Little Sister met for the first
time the poor and lost at night in the
streets of Paris.) The Little Sisters
deeply desire to maintain this bridge
between these two worlds which ignore
one another.
Thus,
the Little Sisters of the Lamb make the
“Offering of Resurrection" (3)
for each man and woman, indeed for their
enemy as well :
Wounded,
you will never stop loving.
